Student's flats

Students studying in Varkaus may apply for a student flat in the student residences operated by Wartalo Kodit Oy. Applications can be filed at wartalo.fi. Application forms are also available in hardcopy format from Wartalo Kodit Oy, Antinpuisto 8, 78250 Varkaus, tel. 010 421 5712, the housing office of your municipality, or the municipal rental housing company. Proof of admission to an institute of education must be attached to the application and may be presented on the signing of the lease, if not earlier.

The student flats are located on Lemmikinkatu Street in the Viinimäki district. The student residence completed in 1991 includes 18 two-unit apartments, which accommodate a total of 36 residents. All residents have a room of their own with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. The flats include a balcony. The furniture comprises a bed, desk and chair. The kitchen includes a dining table complete with chairs. The rent is €198 per month. Broadband access can be provided for all flats.

Rental flats

Varkaus offers a large number of private flats for rent. Additional information is provided by the student affairs offices of the education institutions and on notice boards. It is also advisable to check the 'Alueen apajat' section of the Warkauden lehti newspaper that often advertises flats for rent. Other online sites advertising rental or shared flats include vuokraovi.com and etuovi.com
