This summer the Eastern Finnish town of Varkaus will resound to recitation, song and drama, with the sound of smaller dancing shoes and the Finnish Summersault Championships. Little people will be wandering on the streets of Varkaus from one event to the next.

Versality, low prices and the children’s own perspective will be the organiser’s guidelines. The festival will offer plenty of opportunities to involve the whole family.

 

Dozens of children’s workshops offer handicrafts, art, tales, science and history. The topics include, among others, cartoons, sand and clay sculpting, street painting, astronomy, newspaper reporter, fishing school, puppet theatre, toy theatre, sports and mouth organ. The fantacy workshops offer adventures amidst fairy tales, science and art.

 

During the week the path through Adventure Island offers an exciting experience for whole family. Open every day of the festival week in Tyyskänniemi.

An enjoyable concert for whole family. The contestants are grouped in two categories, under 10 and 10 to 16 years.

 

Wed 15 June at 18 in the Warkaus Hall

Local amateur dancers from little babies to youngster and an professional dance performance.

 

Sun 19 June at 13 at the Park of Itsenäisyyden puisto

Park Concert of Leafy Man and The Finnish Championships in throwing somersaults. A Sunday picnic with live music performances in sunshine, featuring also a not-so-serious competition in throwing somersaults for different age groups. Admission free.

 

The Street Train will take festival visitors sightseeing around the town. A horse-cart offers a ride from Taulumäki Market Square.
